All India Radio Friday has launched its streaming services on the Amazon e-commerce platform with its voice-activated intelligent speakers to expand its global presence. Vividh Bharati and 14 other regional voice services from All India Radio (AIR) will air on Amazon Alexa. The AIR archives will soon be available on the device, he said in a statement.
Minister of Information and Broadcasting Rajayavardhan Singh Rathore said services like Amazon Alexa have made life easier for people.
The introduction of AIR streaming services is a synergy of old and modern forms of communication, he said.
Rathore also said the initiative would benefit the Indian diaspora around the world.
Now everyone in the world can hear AIR programs, he said.
Prasar Bharati President Surya Prakash, Prasar Bharati Chief Executive, Shashi Shekhar Vempati, Rajiv Sawhney, Technical Development Director, Amazon Alexa (Asia) and senior Ministry officials were also present.
Sawhney said the voice is the future of communicating with the devices around us.
He said that 390 million people around the world are already using voice communications, a figure that is set to triple to 1.83 billion over the next three years.
